Repairs to Close Beltway Lanes Next Two Weekends

State Highway Agency officials say the work will close lanes overnight in Prince George's County the next two weekends, if weather permits.

Highway crews will temporarily close some lanes at the I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway) / Ritchie Marlboro Road interchange in Prince George’s County starting at 9 p.m. Friday night for repairs.

According to a news release from the State Highway Administration, drivers should expect closures the weekends of July 17 and July 24. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, workers will close a single left lane at 9 p.m., two lanes at 10 p.m.and three lanes at 11 p.m.

Two lanes will be open in each direction during the day on Saturday and Sunday. All lanes will open to traffic no later than 5 a.m. Monday.

Crews will also close one lane in each direction of Ritchie Marlboro Road between 9 p.m. Friday and noon on Saturday for two consecutive weekends with possible intermittent total traffic stoppages of up to 15 minutes to protect drivers and work crews and to move construction equipment into place.

SHA will repair concrete at a bridge joint on the I-95/I-495 span over Ritchie Marlboro Road. The need for the repair was discovered as part of the $12 million safety and resurfacing project on I-95/I-495 between D’Arcy Road and Arena Drive.
