Tonight: National Night Out in Upper Marlboro
The 28th annual event kicks off at the Marlborough Village Shopping Center.

This evening, police officers and neighborhood civic groups will celebrate the 28th annual “National Night Out” against crime from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the in Upper Marlboro. Residents are asked to turn on their outside lights and spend the evening outside with their neighbors.
Up the road in Largo, a National Night Out event will be held on the Target parking lot, 10500 Campus Way South.
According to county police, the event was created to:
• Heighten public awareness of crime and drug prevention programs
• Generate support for, and participate in, local anti-crime efforts
• Strengthen neighborhood spirits and police-community partnerships
• Display unity in the fight against criminal activity.
“National Night Out is our opportunity to show police and community solidarity in the fight against crime for the stability and vitality of our communities," County Police Chief Mark A. Magaw said in a statement. "As National Night Out events continue to grow in Prince George’s County, they exemplify the strength of our partnership and the commitment within our neighborhoods and communities."
