Traffic Alert: Lane Closures Friday on I-95 to Bring Delays

Highway officials urge drivers to avoid I-95 at Ritchie Marlboro Road on Friday night when lanes will close to allow bridge repairs.

Drivers are being urged to avoid part of the Capital Beltway in Prince George’s County Friday night when lanes will be closed, weather permitting, to allow repairs.

The State Highway Administration will temporarily close up to three lanes on the inner and outer loops of I-95/I-495 over Ritchie Marlboro Road in Prince George’s County. The weekend lane closures are necessary for crews to repair the concrete driving surface.

Beginning Friday at 9 p.m. and continuously through Monday morning, crews will close the I-95 lanes in this sequence:

A single left lane at 9 p.m.;
Two lanes at 10 p.m.;
Three lanes at 11 p.m. continuing through 7 a.m. Saturday; and
Two lanes will remain closed through 5 a.m. Monday morning.

Works will also close one lane in each direction of Ritchie Marlboro Road under I-95 between 9 p.m. Friday and noon on Saturday. Crews may need to completely stop traffic for up to 15 minutes to protect motorists and workers while moving construction equipment into place. SHA asks travelers to avoid the area if possible since major traffic delays are likely.
