Update: Troy Nash Gets Life for Killing Upper Marlboro Resident
According to police, Nash stabbed Vanessa Riddick 65 times around her face and neck.

Update, 11/17: Troy Nash was sentenced this morning to life in prison without parole for the stabbing death of Vanessa Riddick in August 2007. According to police, Riddick was stabbed 65 times around her face and neck, and police found Nash’s pocketknife at the crime scene.
In issuing the sentence, Prince George’s County Circuit Court Judge Crystal D. Mittelstaedt said that she considered Nash a dangerous person and noted that Riddick had to endure “unimaginable pain and suffering.”

Original post: Troy Nash, who was found guilty last month of murdering Upper Marlboro resident Vanessa Riddick, will be sentenced at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in a local circuit court.
According to a press release, Nash stabbed Riddick 65 times around her face and neck. Police found Riddick’s small pocketknife next to her body and determined that an unknown man’s blood was on it. In 2007, there were no matching DNA hits in the national database. In September 2009, there was a match — to Nash.

After investigation, police found that Nash has an extensive criminal history dating back to the 1980s, including: convictions for assault; theft; drug distribution; burglary, and robbery.
Prosecutors are pushing for life without parole for Nash.
