Upper Marlboro Man Stabs His Lover's Friend, Sentenced To Prison (ICYMI)
An Upper Marlboro man was sentenced to prison for stabbing another man, who lost partial feeling in both his arms.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD — An Upper Marlboro man was sentenced to prison for stabbing another man in a lover's quarrel at a construction site, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Stephen M. Schenning announced.
Joseph Axzavis Stewart, Sr., 58, was sentenced to 11 years in prison and three years of supervised release for assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure.
Stewart pleaded guilty to the stabbing on Feb. 14. The plea agreement states that on July 31, 2016, at around 9 p.m., Stewart stabbed an individual in the passenger seat of a friend's truck at a construction site near the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Stewart worked for the same construction company and previously had a brief romantic relationship with the individual's friend, Schenning said.

"After other employees from the construction company intervened, Stewart fled the scene in a gray truck," the statement reads. "The victim was transported to hospital, suffering from stab wounds to the arm and back. As a result of the stabbing, the victim underwent several surgeries, and lost partial feeling in both arms."

Schenning said police executed a search warrant and recovered the knife Stewart used in his truck.
