Prince George's County Schools Superintendent William R. Hite Jr. issued a statement regarding the death of a woman Monday in the parking lot of Samuel Chase Elementary School in Temple Hills. "I would like to express my sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the family of the victim," Hite wrote in a statement. "We are working closely with the Prince George's County Police Department to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident." According to <a href="http://www.gazette.net/article/20120123/NEWS/701239988/1029/woman-struck-killed-monday-by-county-van-outside-samuel-chase&amp;template=gazette" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">The Gazette</a>, a woman died outside the school after she was struck and trapped under a school system maintenance van. The county fire department responded to the school and found the woman trapped under the vehicle without a pulse. Efforts to revive her were unsuccessful. School was closed for students on Monday because of a previously scheduled professional day for teachers.
