WUSA: Wiretaps Reveal County Council Plans for Leslie Johnson
Jack B. Johnson promised developer Mirza Baig that his wife would assist him once on the County Council.

Former Prince George's County Executive Jack B. Johnson told local developer Mirza Baig on a government wiretap that his wife Leslie E. Johnson would continue to assist his construction efforts once she joins the County Council, according to a WUSA report.
Jack Johnson, 62, pled guilty this week to federal charges of extortion, conspiracy and witness evidence tampering. He and Leslie were arrested by federal agents in November after an investigation revealed a countywide pay-to-play scheme with developers. Leslie Johnson was also elected to the County Council in November. Her district includes Upper Marlboro and Bowie, among others.
Jack Johnson can be heard on the wiretap telling Baig that the leases he needed would "slide right through," according to the WUSA report. Leslie Johnson has pled not guilty to an obstruction of justice charge. Her case is pending, U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein told reporters on Tuesday.
