Won Cho, a
rising senior at South Carroll High School, has created a nonprofit
organization called Friendship Beyond Borders to connect high school and
college students around the world in language immersion, cultural exchange, and
friendship.

The
organization provides free life coaching resources for students and works with
a UN camp in Jordan to help teach English to refugee children. It also is
setting up a health center at the camp and will conduct a full published study
to help refugees with diabetes, which is plaguing the Arab world. 

 

Won has
exceled in AP World History and other academic classes at South Carroll. He
also is a student in the Biomedical Science program at the Carroll County Career
and Technology Center. He is a leader in the National Honor Society and
Fellowship of Christian Athletes and participates in the South Carroll Young
Activists Club, the National Society of High School Scholars, wrestling, and
All County Orchestra.
