Dillon Hereth, a rising senior at Westminster High School, has been named the 2021 Westminster Youth of the Year in Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s National Youth of the Year program. The Youth of the Year title is a prestigious honor bestowed upon an exemplary young person in recognition of leadership, service, academic excellence and dedication to live a healthy lifestyle.

Dillon will serve as an ambassador for the Boys & Girls Club of Westminster, as well as a role model for all Club members. He has shown extensive leadership at the Club, serving as a Leader in Training, Junior Staff member, and the Captain of the Club’s first Robotics team. In addition, Dillon earned his Eagle Scout badge through a project he organized at the Club where he built mobile Lego tables from wood salvaged during the building’s renovation. He also is a talented artist and is credited with creating the art designs in the Club’s new Knorr Brake
STEaM Maker Space.   

 

Dillon is a strong academic student at Westminster High School
where he has challenged himself with honors and Advanced Placement classes. He
also is a drafting student at the Carroll County Career and Technology Center.
He leads by example and is successful in all parts of his academic career.

 

Dillon will receive the Ross Albers Youth of
the Year Scholarship in the amount of $500 and will continue on to the state
Youth of the Year competition with a chance to win an additional $2,500 college
scholarship.
