CITY OPENS INTERACTIVE HERITAGE TREE TRAIL

New walking trail will feature QR codes for smartphone users

Westminster, MD –In celebration of Arbor Day, the City of Westminster is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the Interactive Heritage Tree Trail next to the Bennett Cerf Dog Park. This unique trail will feature QR codes located on various trees which visitors can scan using a smartphone to get more information on each species. The City of Westminster Tree Commission and the Carroll County Department of Recreation & Parks established the Heritage Tree Trail to encourage residents to appreciate the trees in the Bennett Cerf Park. This collection represents trees of exceptional size, age, and horticultural value. The City will also commemorate this event by planting a Kousa Dogwood tree at the trail head.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Friday, April 24th at 10 a.m., and the public is invited to attend.
