After the rally, walking home from the event, a City resident was injured in an unprovoked attack. This behavior is unacceptable in our City.
The Mayor and Common Council hereby reaffirm Westminster’s commitment to the right of citizens to gather peacefully to express their views, and in doing so to be free from fear of retribution or violence. We recognize the pandemic, and the ongoing economic crisis have contributed to strains in our community and personal lives. Nonetheless, there is no excuse for violence, and it will not be tolerated or excused.
