Fatal Westminster Crash Involved Pennsylvania Woman: Sheriff
Authorities said that a woman hit by a truck on Route 140 has been pronounced deceased.

WESTMINSTER, MD — A Pennsylvania woman has died as the result of a crash in Westminster that occurred Friday night, authorities reported. Nobody else was injured in the crash, according to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.
Valerie R. Groce, 43, of Altoona, Pennsylvania, died at Carroll Hospital Center on Saturday, Oct. 27, officials said; that means she was pronounced deceased the day after she was hit on Route 140, according to officials.
Based on the preliminary investigation, authorities said a 2017 Dodge pickup truck driving east on Route 40 was going through a green light, passing Center Street, when it hit Groce at 7:59 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26.

The driver of the pickup — a 47-year-old Finksburg man — was not injured, officials said, and neither were his three passengers. Alcohol was not a factor for the driver in the crash, according to authorities.
Carroll deputies, Westminster police officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene of the crash, and Groce was taken a hospital with injuries that proved to be fatal.
