Flash Flood Warning Issued For Carroll County: Road Closed
A road is closed near Westminster due to weather-related issues, state highway officials report.

CARROLL COUNTY, MD — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Carroll County Wednesday night. The warning is in effect until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25.
Those in flood-prone areas should immediately seek higher ground, particularly in eastern Carroll County. Drivers who come across roads covered in water should turn around; don't drown.
Lanes were closed on MD 27/Ridge Road at Nicodemus Road after 6:40 p.m., according to the Maryland State Highway Administration. The closure was weather-related, officials said, caused by high water.

A flash flood warning means that flash flooding is occurring or is imminent.
The National Weather Service issued the flash flood warning after radar at 6 p.m. showed thunderstorms producing heavy rain in the area.
Locations that weather officials say may experience flooding include Westminster, Eldersburg, Hampstead, Manchester, Gamber, New Windsor, Finksburg, Carrollton, Lineboro, Winfield, Louisville, Patapsco, Reese, Wagners Mill, Millers, Greenmount and Marston.
Roads and poorly drained areas can quickly become inundated during a flash flood. Streams and creeks could leave their banks, flooding nearby properties.
Flood Warning Until 11:30 P.M.
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Carroll County Wednesday night as well. The warning is in effect until 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25.
Thunderstorms producing heavy rain that could cause flooding were detected by radar, according to weather officials.
Approximately 1 to 2 more inches of rain are possible with the thunderstorms, according to the warning, issued at approximately 5:30 p.m. The warning stated that already, 0.5 to 1 inch of rain has been reported.

Areas that may experience flooding are Columbia, Germantown, Olney, Pikesville, Cockeysville, Westminster, Damascus, Ellicott City, Catonsville, Woodlawn, Randallstown, Montgomery Village, Owings Mills, Eldersburg, Milford Mill, Reisterstown, Lochearn, Fairland, Mays Chapel and Mount Airy.
Flash Flood Watch Until 2 A.M. Thursday
Until 2 a.m. Thursday, a flash flood watch is in effect calling for showers and thunderstorms that could produce torrential rains, particularly along the Interstate 95 corridor. Because the ground is already saturated, officials say heavy rain could lead to flash flooding.
