McDaniel College announces a new Workforce Development Scholarship Program for those interested in pursuing a master’s degree to enhance, advance or change careers. The scholarships are available in programs that relate directly to areas of greatest need due to COVID-19.

New students applying for enrollment at McDaniel for the Fall 2020 semester in the Master of Science in Teaching (Elementary or Secondary), Master of Science in Human Resources Management, Master of Science in Public Administration and Policy, Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Master of Science in School Counseling, or Master of Science in Data Analytics are eligible. All of McDaniel’s master’s degree programs will be offered fully online for the Fall 2020 semester, and students can complete these programs in two years by taking six credit hours per semester.

A limited number of scholarships are available for each program and include free tuition for the Fall 2020 semester (maximum of six credits) and an additional $1,000 scholarship for the Spring 2021 semester (based on satisfactory academic progress and enrollment in six credits).

“When looking to create this new Workforce Development Scholarship for Fall 2020, we really wanted to focus on our master’s degree programs that align with careers that have expected job growth in the State of Maryland and beyond,” said McDaniel Provost and Executive Vice President Julia Jasken. “We believe these scholarships will not only encourage career enhancement and advancement, but will also support career changers, particularly as we enter a challenging economy and a more competitive job market resulting from COVID-19.”

Those interested must apply to one of the eligible master’s degree programs and submit the Workforce Development Scholarship application materials before July 17. Students who are admitted will receive scholarship notifications no later than August 1.
