Flood Warning Issued For 6 Counties In Maryland

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning after 2 inches of rain fell Tuesday, with up to 4 more inches of rain anticipated.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for several areas in Maryland Tuesday night, after radar detected severe thunderstorms capable of causing flooding. A flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.

Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Harford, Howard and Montgomery counties are under the flood warning until 3:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Weather officials issued the warning at 9:18 p.m. upon finding that up to 2 inches of rain had already fallen, and another 2 to 4 inches of rain were possible in the areas under the flood warning, weather officials warned.

Locations that may experience flooding include the following, according to the National Weather Service:

  • Cockeysville
  • Westminster
  • Damascus
  • Aberdeen
  • Havre de Grace
  • Poolesville
  • Aberdeen Proving Ground
  • Towson
  • Bel Air South
  • Randallstown
  • Parkville
  • Owings Mills
  • Bel Air North
  • Eldersburg
  • Carney
  • Perry Hall
  • Reisterstown
  • Ballenger Creek

EXPIRED — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for several counties, including Carroll. The watch is in effect until 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Thunderstorms in the area may produce damaging wind gusts and isolated instances of flooding Tuesday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

The following counties are included in the severe thunderstorm watch:

  • Allegany
  • Carroll
  • Frederick
  • Garrett
  • Washington
