3 Teachers Recognized for Service at St. John
The Archdiocese of Baltimore presented service awards to Carroll County teachers.
On behalf of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, St. John Catholic School principal, Harriann Walker presented the Teacher Service Award to three St. John teachers who have demonstrated their commitment and dedication to education and were recognized for their extensive service to Catholic education.
Mrs. Peggy Warner was recognized for her 35 years of service to the Archdiocese of Baltimore. This will be her 18th at St. John Catholic School as the third grade teacher. “The families I have met are caring, loving, wonderful people. Our Saint John children radiate the love of Jesus that is taught by their parents early on. I have been truly blessed to be part of such a vibrant, caring catholic community and I hope that the trust that our families have put in me will continue for many years.”
Ms. Julie Bowman was recognized with the Teaching Service award for her 25 years of service to the Archdiocese of Baltimore. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Towson University and received a Master’s in Reading from Western Maryland College. Ms. Bowman’s time at St. John’s has included teaching kindergarten, first grade, second grade and third grade. She is currently in her third year as the fourth grade teacher. “I have had a wonderful experience teaching here at St. John. We have a wonderful faculty and many supportive parents that will help you whenever the need arises. It has been an absolute pleasure to teach at St. John School.”

Mrs. Janise Chilcoat was recognized for her 15 years of service to the Archdiocese of Baltimore. She graduated from Mount St. Mary’s College with a Bachelor’s degree in History and a minor in Education. Mrs. Chilcoat began her career at St. John School in 1998 as the school secretary and nurse and then transitioned into a teaching role in 2000, where she served as the 5th grade teacher. She is in her fourteenth year as the 6th-8th grade Social Studies and Religion teacher and is also working towards her Master’s degree. “I am very fortunate that both of my children graduated from St. John School - the education they received at St. John School has served them well!”
