Van Hollen Sponsors 34th Congressional Art Competition

Students have until April 1 to submit an entry, which may be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building.

Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen announced Monday that high school students in the Eighth Congressional District may participate in the 34th Congressional Art Competition.

To get involved students must submit an entry form signed by the student and a faculty member from their school to Van Hollen’s office by either faxing it to 301-424-5992 or emailing it to vanhollenartcomp@mail.house.gov by Wednesday, April 1.

Artwork maybe be dropped of at one of three locations on either Friday, April 17 from 2:30-5:30 pm or Saturday, April 18 from 10:00-11:30 am.

The locations are as follows:

· Washington ArtWorks, 12276 Wilkins Avenue, Rockville

· Congressman Van Hollen’s office, 205 Center Street, Mount Airy

· Carroll County Arts Center, 91 West Main Street, Westminster

The winning submission will be on display in the U.S. Capitol Building, while runners-up will hang in Van Hollen’s congressional offices. All submitted work will be on display at Washington ArtWorks in Rockville from April 24 to May 10.

According to a news release, Van Hollen will host an Arts Celebration and Awards Reception honoring all participants at Washington ArtWorks on Sunday, May 3, from 2 to 3:30 pm.
