Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Carroll County
The National Weather Service is calling for wintry weather this weekend in Carroll County and nearby areas.

CARROLL COUNTY, MD — Carroll County and parts of Baltimore County are under a winter weather advisory until 6 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20.
Up to 2 inches of snow may accumulate, and up to 0.1 inch ice is expected. Drivers should anticipate slippery conditions.
Across the region, weather officials issued a hazardous weather outlook for Sunday due to the potential for bitterly cold wind chills through Monday morning. It is expected to feel like it is below-zero Sunday night into Monday in central Maryland. In addition, there is potential in the second half of the week for flooding due to rain and snow melt, according to the National Weather Service.

PREVIOUS REPORT (EXPIRED - downgraded to winter weather advisory Saturday afternoon): The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Carroll and northern Baltimore counties starting Saturday afternoon. The warning calls for "significant ice with some snow and sleet."
A winter storm warning is issued when significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice could make travel hazardous or impossible.

The winter storm warning is in effect from 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, to 6 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20.
About 0.25 inch ice and about 1 to 3 inches of snow and sleet are expected to accumulate during the warning period.
Power outages and tree damage are likely, according to the winter storm warning.
The National Weather Service also issued a hazardous weather outlook for bitterly cold wind chills from Sunday night into Monday morning. Wind gusts could cause damage Sunday afternoon into Monday, according to the outlook. In Carroll County, the National Weather Service is calling for gusts as high as 36 mph and a low of 5 degrees on Sunday, Jan. 20.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41 and low 0f 29. West wind around 8 mph.
Saturday: Snow after 10 a.m., mixing with freezing rain after 4 p.m. High near 32 and low of 28. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Saturday Night: Rain, freezing rain, and sleet before 1 a.m, then rain until 4 a.m., then freezing rain likely after 4 a.m. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.3 of an inch possible. New sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Sunday: High near 30 and low of 5 degrees. Blustery, with a northwest wind 9 to 14 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph. Freezing rain likely, possibly mixed with sleet, mainly before 7 a.m. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
MLK Day: Sunny, with a high near 17 and low of 7.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 31 and low of 27. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Wednesday: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 46 and low of 31. Chance of rain/snow is 70%.
Thursday: A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
