Carroll County Under Winter Storm Warning
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Carroll County, and officials are opening a cold weather shelter.

CARROLL COUNTY, MD — There could be up to 8 inches of snow on the ground by Monday morning in Carroll County, according to the National Weather Service. The agency has issued a winter storm warning due to wintry precipitation in the forecast that could make travel difficult or impossible.
The winter storm warning is in effect from noon on Sunday, March 3, to 4 a.m. on Monday, March 4.
It calls for 4 to 8 inches of snow in Carroll, Frederick and Washington counties.

The heaviest period of snow is expected between 3 and 8 p.m. on Sunday, at a rate of about 1 inch per hour.

Those going outside should watch for slippery or icy sidewalks, driveways, steps and roads.
Drivers should keep an extra flashlight as well as food and water in their vehicles in case of an emergency.
Cold Weather Shelter Opens
Carroll County is opening a cold weather shelter from 3 p.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday at 127 Stoner Avenue.
The shelter may expand its hours depending on the storm, officials said.

Sunday: Snow, mainly after 2 p.m. High near 35 and low of 28. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Monday: Snow, mainly before 2 a.m. High of 34 and low of 13. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible. Northwest wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 30 and low around 12.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 24 and low of 11.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 32 and low of 19. A chance of snow after 8 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Friday: A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35 and low of 27. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Saturday: A chance of rain and snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 42. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
