Delays on Red Line This Weekend

Red Line trains will operate every eight to 16 minutes from 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, through closing on Sunday, Nov. 3, for scheduled track work, according to Metro's website.

Red Line trains will operate as follows:

  • Between Shady Grove and Glenmont, every 16 minutes throughout the weekend.
  • Additional trains will run between Grosvenor and Silver Spring every eight minutes between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Crews will replace wooden ties, improve third-rail infrastructure and improve track conditions between Twinbrook and Grosvenor stations.

Read about delays on other Metrorail lines this weekend at Metro's website.

Before traveling, consult the trip planner at wmata.com to check the special schedule and reduce your wait time. (Trip Planner is updated to reflect weekend rebuilding schedules on Fridays, so check on Friday afternoon or later.) Riders will experience additional wait time on the platform. Once a train departs the station, it is not expected to encounter additional delays en route, Metro stated on its website.
