Downtown Wheaton Closing Streets To Accommodate Outdoor Dining
Several streets in downtown Wheaton will be closed to vehicular traffic to allow for outdoor dining.
WHEATON, MD — Starting Friday, several streets in downtown Wheaton will be closed to vehicular traffic to allow for outdoor dining.
The change is part of a new pilot program called "Streetery," which was organized by the Wheaton Urban District and Mid-County Regional Service Office.
The following streets will be closed during the pilot program:

- Westbound Price Avenue (from Fern to Elkin streets)
- The closure will extend past Elkin Street to the eastbound direction stop line
- The north-south crosswalk along Price Avenue will remain unobstructed
- Elkin Street (from approximately 100 feet north of Price Street to Price Street)
Some restaurants will be serving meals to the outdoor tables. Others will have customers order takeout and then offer them a table. Reservations are encouraged.
