Each grantee was formally honored in a ceremony held on Tuesday, Jan. 20, with Montgomery County officials, according to the release.
This year, United Way of the National Capital Area awarded over $1 million in grants across its eight regions in the greater Washington area: Alexandria, Arlington, District of Columbia, Fairfax/Falls Church, Loudoun, Montgomery, Prince George’s and Prince William counties.
Funds from Community Impact grants go toward finding solutions to critical challenges that no single person, nonprofit nor company can tackle alone. United Way’s mission is to not only offer immediate relief to those affected, but also address the underlying causes of the issues that face a community.
To be eligible to apply for a Community Impact grant, nonprofits must first complete one year of membership with United Way of the National Capital Area.
