Over 50 Cats Found In Wheaton Home After Fire
Over 50 cats were found in a Wheaton home that caught fire Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

WHEATON, MD — Over 50 cats were found in a Wheaton home that caught fire Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
Firefighters were called to a blaze at 3402 Weller Rd. at about 3:20 p.m.
Crews found "severe hoarding conditions with belongings and animals," Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said.

Over 50 cats and kittens were found in the home, which was otherwise unoccupied.
Animal Services assisted with multiple feline fatalities, Pirigner said.

The fire caused about $75,000 in damage and the house was condemned. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
