Massachusetts' top crime news also includes a brutal stabbing over child-rearing and a high-speed chase that included an Uber ride.

A high-speed chase that spanned almost 35 miles from Brockton to Concord ended with Brockton and state police cruisers colliding and the suspect getting away in an Uber, police said. According to police, a Brockton officer began pursuit shortly after midnight after trying to pull over the driver on North Montello Street for several traffic violations. The high-speed chase continued through Stoughton, Randolph, onto I-95 North. Read more.

Prosecutors say a Salem man nearly disemboweled a Beverly man in a brutal stabbing that followed a dinner party dispute over child rearing. Adam McCauley, 29, of 5 Varney St. in Salem, turned himself in Wednesday and is being held without bail on charges of attempted murder and assault and battery with a deadly weapon. Police say McCauley was staying at the victim's Beverly apartment on Oct. 15 when a argument broke out during a dinner after a child had been put into a "time out" for misbehaving. Read more.

A 35-year-old Everett man was arrested and accused of hitting another man with a witch's cauldron in Salem Saturday night. Police say Cory Nelson, 35, of Everett, was found smelling of alcohol in Crow Haven Corner, a shop that sells witchcraft supplies -- including cauldrons. Police patrolling the area had been approached by the victim, who was bleeding from a wound to his head. Read more.
