Driver Who Hit MA State Trooper Caught With Child Rape Suspect

The man who hit and injured a Massachusetts State Trooper in Revere over the weekend has been caught in Maine with a child rape suspect.

REVERE, MA — Luis Price-Gonzalez, 29, and Andy Escarfuller-Medina, 22, were arrested in Maine on Tuesday.

Police say Price-Gonzalez intentionally hit a police cruiser, then continued to hit the State Trooper once he got out of his vehicle in Revere on Saturday, before driving away.

The investigation was immediately launched into Price-Gonzalez's whereabouts after the hit-and-run, meanwhile Troopers had already been looking for Escarfuller-Medina on an unrelated child rape warrant.

Massachusetts State Police found that Price-Gonzalez was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had been unknowingly taken from a family member of Escarfuller-Medina.

With help from the United States Marshals Service, Massachusetts and Maine State Police were able to locate both men together in a residence in Auburn, Maine.

Price-Gonzalez, was arrested on a warrant for assault and battery with a deadly weapon, negligent operation, leaving the scene of a personal injury crash and other charges in connection with the incident in Revere. He is also charged in other warrants unrelated to the hit-and-run, which include animal cruelty and breaking and entering.

Escarfuller-Medina was arrested on a Massachusetts warrant for the rape of a child. He was charged with two counts of statutory rape of a child, posing a child in the nude, and distributing material showing a child in a sexual act. He is also facing charges with unrelated warrants for motor vehicle violations and for breaking and entering.

Both men are being held at Androscoggin County Jail on Fugitive from Justice charges pending rendition to Massachusetts, according to a press release.

The Trooper who was struck in the incident on Saturday was treated for his injuries and is still recovering, State Police say.
