Duxbury Teen Charged With Murdering His Father Held Without Bail

Jack Callahan allegedly began submerging his father underwater, claiming he was "baptizing" him after seeing the "demon" in his eyes: DA.

DUXBURY, MA — Jack Callahan, 19, was arraigned in Plymouth District Court Tuesday. He pleaded not guilty to the murder of his father, and is now being held without bail, says District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz.

Callahan was placed under arrest Monday morning for the murder of his father after police say Scott Callahan, 57 was pulled from Island Creek pond the night before.

After an investigation, Massachusetts State Police found that Jack travelled up to Boston Sunday night to meet his father, and the two took an Uber home to Duxbury after midnight. The ride-share car dropped the two men off at Crocker Park, next to Island Creek pond in Duxbury, where police say a fight broke out between the two.

It was then that Jack began forcing his father's head underwater in the pond, claiming to "baptize" him after seeing the "demon" in his eyes. He continued to hold his father underwater until he could no longer fight back and was unresponsive, according to police.

Jack Callahan is expected to appear in court August 12.
