Ipswich Police Respond After Teen Is Injured In Boating Accident
Police say a 17-year-old fell off a motorized boat near Plum Island Wednesday afternoon.

IPSWICH, MA — Police Chief and Harbormaster Paul Nikas are working with Ipswich Police to investigate what happened when a 17-year-old from Merrimac was injured in a boating accident Wednesday afternoon.
Ipswich Police were notified of the accident happening in the Plum Island Sound inlet, north of Crane Beach and west of Plum Island at 1:50 p.m.
The 17-year-old fell off of a 12-foot rubber craft with a 25-horsepower outboard engine, sustaining injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening to his legs, arms and back.

The 16-year-old driver of the boat was the one who reported the accident to police, and was told by a dispatcher to bring the 17-year old to the Ipswich Bay Yacht Club's dock, where they were met by Ipswich Police and an ambulance where the teen was taken to a local hospital.
The incident is under investigation by the Ipswich Police Department and Harbormaster.
