MA Town-By-Town Coronavirus Stats: Just One High-Risk Community
The statewide weekly positive test rate fell to just 0.8 percent alongside declines in all coronavirus metrics.

MASSACHUSETTS — Massachusetts reported continued declines across all coronavirus metrics again Thursday, with the positive test rate falling to 0.80 percent from 1.06 percent last week.
The weekly average death rate fell to a new low of 6.1 deaths per day. The average case rate and hospitalization rate also fell and there are fewer than 10,000 estimated active cases, according to the weekly town-by-town coronavirus report.
The Department of Public Health labeled just one community as high risk for the coronavirus, down from two in the previous report. Only Tisbury was in the high-risk category, with a 6.86 percent positive test rate over the last two weeks.

The state reported 215 coronavirus cases, nine deaths and 57,180 vaccine doses administered Thursday.
The latest vaccine report shows the number of residents who are fully vaccinated has risen to 3.56 million. Another 821,455 have received one dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine.

Of the 9 million doses the state has received, 85.1 percent have been administered.
The seven-day average number of hospitalized patients was 274, down from 346 a week prior. There were 79 patients in intensive care.
The positive test rate over the last two weeks fell in 206 — or 58.7 percent — of the 351 communities in the state. The rate rose in 68 — or 19.4 percent — of the communities and held steady in the remaining 77. Two-week confirmed case counts rose in 49 communities.
There were 6.1 average daily cases per 100,000 residents of the state over that period, down from 8.7 last week.
To date, there have been 660,513 cases and 17,491 deaths statewide since the pandemic began. Officials estimated there were 7,843 active cases as of Thursday.

The state reported 43,165 new tests Thursday, bringing the total to 22.8 million.
The data includes coronavirus cases for all Massachusetts communities, except for those with populations under 50,000 and fewer than five cases. The department said the stipulation was designed to protect the privacy of patients in those towns and cities.
The state releases town-by-town testing data every Thursday, including the number of people tested, the testing rate, the positive test rate, cases and infection rates.
