Police Investigate Report Of A Person Struck By A Train In Lowell

The MBTA closed the Lowell Line Wednesday afternoon to allow police to investigate a report of a person being struck by a train.

LOWELL, MA — Firefighters and Police have blocked off Rumford Street and Crystal Street in Lowell to investigate a report of a person being struck by a train around 12 p.m. Wednesday.

Emergency crews responded to the scene near Woburn Street and Interstate 495 after police reported a person was trapped under the train. The Lowell Sun reported that police requested detectives come to the scene and to have trains on the Lowell line stopped.

Police have not released any more information, but are actively investigating the scene.
