Santarpio's Ranked 7th In National '101 Best Pizzas' List

MASSACHUSETTS – Two Massachusetts restaurants have been highlighted by a well-respected list of the top 101 pizzas in America for 2020, with one making into the top 10.

Boston's Santarpio's ranked seventh nationally on The Daily Meal's 2020 ranking of America's 101 Best Pizzas, which was released last week.

The Daily Meal examined nearly 1,000 pizzas and and said that while Americans love pizza chains, this list focuses on small establishments from across the country, as well as female- and Black-owned businesses.

The rankings are a result of Daily Meal's "internal expertise," Yelp reviews, coverage from local journalists and reader suggestions.

Here is the complete New Jersey list, and their national rankings:

• #7 Santarpio's (Boston): "If you’re looking for pizza in this major sports city, it’s gotta be Santarpio’s. This cash-only Boston restaurant has no shortage of options on the menu, down to even shrimp scampi pizza, but its top-selling slice is classic pepperoni," the Daily Meal reported.
• #25 Galleria Umberto (Boston): "Galleria Umberto is a cash-only counter known for Sicilian-style pizza and Italian eats just a stone’s throw from Boston Public Garden. The coveted Massachusetts pizzeria specializes in square slices, but cheese is the only type on offer, and you can only order for lunch during the hours of 10:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.," according to the Daily Meal.

Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana in New Haven, Connecticut was named the best pizza joint in the nation for the fourth year in a row. There are two Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana locations in Massachusetts: Burlington and Chestnut Hill.
