Shaw's, Star Market Drivers On Strike
The 70 drivers and mechanics deliver grocery staples to more than 100 supermarkets in Massachusetts and New England.

MASSACHUSETTS — Drivers who deliver grocery staples to 21 Star Market and 55 Shaw's supermarkets in Massachusetts went on strike Monday.
Teamsters Local 340 in South Portland, which represents 70 drivers and mechanics at a distribution center in Wells, ME, said the striking workers have not had a contract since October. The strike does not affect fruit, vegetables and refrigerated products, which are distributed from a facility in Methuen.
"Nobody wants to strike," Joe Piccone, the union's business agent, told the Associated Press. "These guys are claiming that they have a great offer for us but the lawyer who works for the company quit."
