Forecasters are eyeing a potential winter storm at the beginning of next week that could drop a "significant" amount of snow across southern New England.

The early forecasts emphasize that things could change between now and late Monday night, when the storm could begin and last into early Wednesday. WCVB said the storm could bring up to a foot or more of snow and strong winds.

"If this storm materializes significant snow accumulations would be possible for some along with a period of strong winds & coastal flooding along the eastern MA coast," the National Weather Service tweeted Friday afternoon.
