Acton Awarded Grant For Work Around Powder Mill Place Development

ACTON, MA — Acton was awarded a $2.75 million grant to support the development of affordable housing at Powder Mill Place.

The grant was provided by the MassWorks Infrastructure Grant Program.

With the grant funding, the town will work to make intersection, sidewalk and streetscape improvements, along with upgrades to the Middle Fort Pond Wastewater Treatment Facility. All of this work will be completed as part of ongoing development of 230 units of affordable housing at Powder Mill Place.

The funds will help support the connection of the completed development to existing wastewater systems, as well as make additional infrastructure improvements that will allow for better traffic flow and improved pedestrian and motorist safety.

"We appreciate the support from the state for this important project," Town Manager Mangiaratti said. "The apartments at Powder Mill Place will provide critical affordable housing opportunities for Acton and this MassWorks grant will help us achieve complete streets improvements and sewer infrastructure upgrades to support the project and our economic development goals."

Acton's was one of 36 public infrastructure projects awarded funding this week through the MassWorks program.
