Acton-Based Teacher Earns MA School Library Assoc. Scholarship
Michelle LaFlamme is a teacher at the Huntington Learning Center/AJ Squared Education in Acton.
ACTON, MA — Acton-based teacher Michelle LaFlamme earned this year's Audrey Friend Scholarship from the Massachusetts School Library Association.
The scholarship is presented annually to an applicant who is currently enrolled in an academic program to become a library teacher. LaFlamme is attending Simmons University School of Library and Information Science. She is also a teacher at the Huntington Learning Center / AJ Squared Education in Acton.
In her hometown of Shirley, she is a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Committee, she serves on a task force for the school committee’s goal of achieving a school environment that welcomes diversity, ensures equity, and fosters inclusion for all students and adults.

She plans to focus the remainder of her graduate studies on exploring how the social justice standards and anti-bias education can be incorporated into and supported by school library programming and services. LaFlamme will be honored at the MSLA annual conference to be held on March 21st and 22nd.
