Acton Offers Virtual Programs Tailored To Seniors

Two informative and free programs will be offered this month to seniors in Acton.

ACTON, MA — Acton is offering free, informational programs online tailored to seniors in town. Two virtual programs are planned for this month.

“While these programs are aimed at seniors, you don’t need to be a senior to sign up,” Acton Health Director Sheryl Ball said. “These programs are beneficial to everyone. We hope people share information about these events with friends and family.”

A "Senior Scams" program will take place at 11 a.m. on March 16 featuring Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan. DA Ryan will discuss the far-reaching impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, including an increasing number of scams targeting the elderly and other vulnerable populations. The program also will focus on the lasting impact of isolation and will offer advice about how to reduce feelings of loneliness.

The second program is titled "The New Normal New England Road Trip" and is scheduled for 7 p.m. on March 30. The program will be led by “Chronicle” reporter Ted Reinstein who will walk viewers through a tour of beloved diners, familiar landmarks, and places off the beaten path, and share stories about the quirky characters he has met in his New England reporting career. Reinstein has been a reporter for WCVB-TV’s award-winning nightly news magazine since 1997, and has written three books.
