Acton’s Dog Park Vote at Town Meeting

Please Attend and Vote Yes on 3

Acton is home to over 2,000 dogs and their owners. Some take walks, some run on trails, but many need a secure, safe place to run, play, and socialize. And, like parents that bring their kids to playgrounds, dog owners, often seniors, veterans and those in our community that are disabled and unable to walk or use our trails) benefit from the connections that are made when they come together.
Acton’s Dog Park Committee, Recreation, and Land Use departments have worked together for nearly 4 years to identify the need for and create a plan for a dog park in Acton. Together we have settled on the undeveloped and otherwise unusable parcel at 348 Main Street. Local veterinarians and multiple Town committees endorse both the concept and the location -- central, accessible, and sorely in need of rehabilitation. Substantial grant funding (90%) available from the Stanton Foundation will fund nearly the entire project.
On Monday, June 21, residents have an opportunity to make this vision a reality. Questions? Email Pam Gillispie at foacdp@gmail.com or visit www.actondogpark.weebly.com or find us on Facebook at Acton Community Dog Park to learn more about how this exciting project will benefit our entire community.
It’s in your hands! Please attend Town Meeting at 6 PM at ABRHS. Vote YES on the Capital Budget and NO on the Citizen’s Petition. Let’s add a playground for our canine friends to our Town’s recreational facilities.
