Acton's Flannery Earns High Basketball Honors: WATCH

Take a look at some of the crazy plays Acton-Boxborough alum Joey Flannery made this season.

ACTON, MA—Acton-Boxborough alum and Babson College Junior Joey Flannery has made his mark while playing on Babson College's basketball team.

Flannery, who is Babson's all-time leading scorer, was named as the SmallCollegeHoops.com DIII News Player of the Year Monday. Flannery averaged 23.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.4 steals.

"It is a tremendous honor to win this award, but it also says a lot about our team," said Flannery in a Babson College announcement. "It means a lot for our program and our coaching staff, and none of this would be possible without having great teammates and a successful season."

Flannery was tabbed as the DIII News Preseason player of the year in October, as well as an All-America selection by both the National Association of Basketball Coaches and D3hoops.com.

"I am both happy for and proud of Joey," said head coach Stephen Brennan. "He invests a great deal of time working at his game, watching film, and is an excellent leader and teammate. To be recognized as the best player in the country is an incredible honor for both Joey and the Babson men's basketball program. We appreciate the recognition that DIII News has bestowed upon Joey and their efforts to publicize our sport."
