Acton Carpenter, Cop Wilbur Mounsey Dies at 83

He was also a local carpenter.

Wilbur M. Mounsey, 83, of Concord died Thursday July 17, 2014 in Concord. He was the beloved husband of 58 years of the late Esther J. (Florio) Mounsey.

Born in Leominster on January 21,1931 he was the son of the late Harold and Gertrude (Paige) Mounsey. He attended Concord public schools. Mr. Mounsey was employed at the former Concord Cold Storage in West Concord, and as a carpenter.

For over twenty years prior to his retirement, he worked for the Town of Concord as a patrolman for the Concord Police Department. He also taught firearm instruction at several police departments in the area. He later worked as a finish carpenter for over twenty five years for Deck House in Acton. In addition to his love of woodworking, he also enjoyed playing poker.

He was the father of Wilbur M. Mounsey Jr. and his wife Jan of Chelmsford, and Jean Woodward and her husband Larry of Nashua, NH., grandfather of Ken and Keith Woodward and Eric and Aaron Mounsey and great grandfather of Eric and Tyler Mounsey.

He was also the brother of Richard Mounsey and his wife Roberta of Burlington and the late Kenneth Mounsey and his late wife Gertrude and is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral was held on July 19th. Burial was at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Concord, Massachusetts.

Arrangements were under the care of Dee Funeral Home of Concord, Susan M. Dee and Charles W. Dee, Jr., Funeral Directors.
