ACTON, MA – It wasn't much, but it did mark the impending return of winter in New England.
According to the National Weather Service, the first real snowfall of the year dumped 3.5 inches of flakes on Acton.
The unofficial measurement came via ham trained spotter at 6:56 a.m. The National Weather Service often relies of community members to help measure snowfall around the state.
