Legislators Surprise ABRHS Volunteers at Community Supper

Senator Eldridge, Representative Gouveia, and Representative Sena Honor Two Students for Commitment to Mt. Calvary Community Supper

Senator Jamie Eldridge, Representative Tami Gouveia, and Representative Danillo Sena surprised two ABRHS student volunteers at Mt. Calvary Community Supper on Wednesday June 16. Ancy Trinita Leo, a senior, and Koharu Aoki, a junior, received citations for their commitment and dedication assisting with Supper every Wednesday night. After presenting his citation, Senator Eldridge spoke to the girls and their parents about his personal experience in the same role when he was a student in Acton. Since its establishment in 2012, Mt. Calvary Community Supper has welcomed the Senator on numerous occasions as he has sponsored and hosted dinners for our guests. We are truly grateful for his ongoing support.

Representative Gouveia and Representative Sena joined the Senator at the award ceremony to present Ancy and Koharu with a joint House citation. They each thanked the girls for their volunteerism and acknowledged the importance of the Supper's mission to alleviate hunger and social isolation in our community.

Thanks to both girls and best wishes to Ancy next year as she attends UConn to study Health Sciences. We hope that the experiences she had while volunteering at Mt. Calvary Community Supper have instilled a life-long commitment to community service for those in need.
