1. Beyond Public and Charter Schools: At 9:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, the Acton Public Library will host an event inviting locals to come out and explore the educational options in your area beyond public and charter schools. Get the details here.Â
2. Public Meetings Preview: According to the town website, here's the week's lineup of public meetings (as of mid-week last week):Â
- Monday, Oct. 28: the Acton-Boxborough Cultural Council at 7:30 p.m. and the Acton Public and Acton-Boxborough Regional School Committee Negotiations Subcommittee at 7 p.m.Â
- Tuesday, Oct. 29: an Acton Community Housing Corporation Site Visit at 10 a.m. at Morrison Farmhouse and the Acton Housing Authority Board of Commissioners at 4 p.m.Â

3. Spooky Science: At 11:30 a.m. this Wednesday, Oct. 30, the Discovery Museums will use a little spooky science to create some strange substances, inviting guests to whip up a batch of ooey, gooey slime or sink their hands into some odd oobleck. Get the details here.Â
4. 5th Annual Intel-OARS Environmental Innovators Contest: Entry forms are due Oct. 31 for the 5th Annual Intel-OARS Environmental Innovators Contest, which invites folks to use creativity to solve real environmental issues in the Concord Watershed, earn cash prizes and have fun. Get the details here.Â
