Obituary: Fred T. Cavooto, 86, of Acton

Fred served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and loved spending time in the garage, tinkering with cars and fixing things.

ACTON, MA – Fred T. Cavooto, 86, died at home in Acton January 29, 2017. An engine builder who moved to Acton in 1962, he is formerly of Waltham where he was born, raised and educated.

A military veteran, Fred served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion, Post 440 in Newton. His favorite place to be was in the garage, tinkering with cars and fixing stuff; he could fix anything.

Born to the late Henry and Marcia (Russo) Cavooto on March 12, 1930, he is survived by his beloved wife Gloria J. (Gentile) Cavooto of Acton and his son Thomas W. Cavooto of Leominster. He was the grandfather of Michael, Joseph and the late Angela Cavooto, and was predeceased by his siblings Gemma Testa, Helen Cannizzo and Anthony “Red” Cavooto.

Visitation Friday, Feb. 3rd 4-8pm at Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave. (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Feb 4th 10am at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 89 Arlington St., Acton, followed by burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Acton.
