Mother Bear, Cubs Removed From Route 2 Median

TEMPLETON, MA — How about this for a traffic delay? Route 2 was shut down in both directions at Exit 19 and 20 for more than 30 minutes Thursday morning while officials moved a mother bear and her cubs from the median.

The lanes closed around 9:45 a.m. and reopened at 10:22. State environmental police tranquilized the mother moved the bear family to a nearby state forest, state police said. The bears had made their den in the Route 2 median.

The didn't appear to be too much of a bear, with lanes clearing once they reopened.
