State Grant To Fund Housing For Seniors, Adults With Disabilities
Acton has received $233,819 from the state's Housing Community Choice program, and will put it toward The Residences and a Main St. project.
ACTON, MA — Acton will use a $233,819 grant from the state Housing Community Choice program to support projects that will create 71 affordable housing units for seniors and adults with disabilities, the town manager announced Wednesday.
It’ll be split into two projects: one being a 40-unit development at 348-364 Main Street and the other at The Residences, which contains 31 units. At the Main Street site, the money will be put toward feasibility and design services to examine a sewer line extension. The grant will fund the construction of a sewer and water connection at The Residences.
“This is exciting news for seniors and adults with disabilities in Acton,” said the Town’s legislative delegation, state Sen. Jamie Eldridge, state Rep. Tami Gouveia and state Rep. Danillo Sena in a statement. “These two housing projects address urgent needs in our districts. This market is especially difficult on seniors: at last count, the Acton Housing Authority had 99 local senior households on its waiting list.”
