Andover Select Board Approves Town Yard RFP; Town Meeting Awaits
Town meeting will have to approve the proposed request for proposals for a transit-oriented, mixed-use development at the site.
ANDOVER, MA — The Andover Select Board voted at their recent meeting to move forward a request for proposals for development of the Town Yard site, 11 Lewis St. The Board voted in October to approve the land's sale, and both moves will require approval at the annual town meeting in April. The land, formerly home to the Public Works Department, sits at the heart of the recently-created Historic Mill District zoning overlay district.
The Board voted 5-0 in favor of the RFP at their Feb. 24 meeting, after hearing a presentation from town officials. The presentation covered requirements of the development, including that it be multi-use, have open space and programming space, be accessible for transit, bikes and pedestrians and be environmentally responsible.
If the sale and RFP is approved by town meeting, recommendations will ideally go to the Select Board in the fall.
