Based on descriptions, police say they tracked down Meyer at Thorndike Field. Although five shell castings were found nearby, Meyer claimed no knowledge of any shooting, and was not carrying a gun. He said he had just been run over with a car and required medical attention, according to police. Meyer was subsequently taken to a hospital.
Harris, who police say was carrying a pistol magazine that matched the shells found at Thorndike, was soon after arrested by Cambridge Police nearby the bike path on the Route 2 overpass.
When asked, Harris told police he had already gotten rid of the gun, and brought officers to where he left it off near Clay Pit Pond. Harris also mentioned his friend had just been hit by a car, which led police to believe Meyer had, in fact, been at the scene during the shooting.
Cambridge Police say that they initially observed Harris nearby Alewife Station. They say they noticed that not only did he fit the description of a shooting suspect, he had the magazine partly visible in his front pocket.
