How Many Residents Rent Homes in Arlington?

ARLINGTON, MA—Arlington residents live in homes both big and small, but how many residents own homes as opposed to renting them?

According to data from the American Community Survey, 38.8 percent of residents rent homes in Arlington. This figure is slightly higher than the percentage in Middlesex County (37.5 percent), the Greater Boston Metro area (38.5 percent) and the Commonwealth as a whole (37.7 percent).

Surprisingly, however, Residents are paying more monthly rent then their counterparts across the state. 42.7 percent of residents are paying over $1,500 per month in monthly rent, a figure nearly five percentage points higher than the county total of 38 percent and more than 10 percent greater than the Greater Boston Area total of 32.1 percent.
