Hyundai Recalls Cars in Cold Weather States
Road salt can damage Elantras and Sonatas, increasing the chance of an accident.

Two of the most popular cars in America are being recalled in Massachusetts and other cold-weather states because damage from road salt could cause accidents.
Hyundai is recalling 27,700 Elantras and Sonatas in the U.S. because salt damage could cause the cars’ front coil springs to fracture. If road salt corrodes the front coil springs of the cars, they could fracture and that might cause a tire puncture, increasing the risk of a crash, Hyundai said in documents posted on the National Highway Traffic Administration’s website Friday.
The affected cars include Elantras made from November 2010 through March 2011, and Sonatas made from December 2009 through February 2010.
