ATTLEBORO, MA —A dangerous cold snap will drive Attleboro into a deep freeze this weekend—with wind chill values plummeting to 35 degrees below zero.
It will be the coldest weekend so far this winter—and it could set records. A wind chill warning was issued for Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.
“Frostbite (can) occur in 10 minutes or less on exposed skin,” NWS said in a statement. “Never venture outside without wearing gloves, a hat, and several layers of clothing.”

Here’s the NWS wind chill warning:
- A WIND CHILL WARNING...REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM SATURDAY TO NOON EST SUNDAY.
- HAZARD TYPES...LIFE THREATENING WIND CHILLS AND NEAR RECORD COLD AIR TEMPERATURES.
- WIND CHILL READINGS...BETWEEN 20 AND 30 BELOW ZERO WITH PERHAPS A FEW LOCATIONS IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS BRIEFLY APPROACHING 35 BELOW ZERO.
- TIMING...THE WORST OF THE WIND CHILLS WILL OCCUR SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING.
- IMPACTS...WIND CHILLS THIS COLD CAN BRING ON FROSTBITE IN AS LITTLE AS 10 MINUTES! OUTDOOR EXPOSURE SHOULD BE LIMITED IN THESE CONDITIONS.
- WINDS...NORTHWEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH.
- AIR TEMPERATURES...TEMPERATURES SAT NIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING WILL FALL TO NEAR RECORD COLD VALUES OF 5 BELOW TO 5 ABOVE ZERO ALONG THE COAST...TO 5 BELOW TO 15 BELOW INLAND.
