Attleboro Blue Bombardiers Begin New Era

The Attleboro High School football team will try to top last year's 8th place ranking without recent graduate Tim Walsh.

The Attleboro Blue Bombardiers climbed their way to the Division 1 South sectional final last year and finished the season with a solid record of 9-2. But Tim Walsh, the quarterback of that squad, has upgraded to collegiate ball over at Bentley University. Mike Strachan, second-year coach of the Bombardiers, returns aiming to prove last season wasn’t beginner’s luck.

Running back Damon Belin and wide receiver Brenden Massey are entering their last year in blue and white, and will ease the rebuilding process. Kyle Murphy is looking to surpass his breakout performance from last year. Senior Ross Killion is the QB at the helm, while sophomore Tyler McGovern is generating buzz as a back-up arm.

Attleboro is a threat in the Hockomock League, but ESPN reported that Coach Strachan knows better than to hit the gridiron blind. “I think if we’re going to build our program long term then we need to be like the Mansfields and KPs, and continue that level of player from year to year,” he said. “We expect a lot of competition in camp.”
